Did you know Denver, Colorado is hiding its very own custom boat shop?

No, we’re not talking your run-of-the-mill raft and frame shop. We're talking the full treatment for your floating beauty—wood restoration, fiberglass acid washes, engine service, polishing that would make your mother weep, bilge cleaning (yes, even that), full-on detailing, fresh paint and varnish touch-ups, winterization, coaching, and even something they call “boat adoption” (cue the Sarah McLachlan music).
Oh—and if you’ve got a dream boat in your head, they’ll build it from scratch.
"Julius Spradley began his boatbuilding journey in coastal Maine, combining passions for woodworking, painting, design, and a love for being out on water of any kind. He learned the trade under Kevin Carney and Owen Page at The Apprentice shop in Rockland, ME, and, upon completing his apprenticeship in traditional boatbuilding, went to work for Lyman-Morse Boatbuilders in Thomaston, ME, building new, custom yachts and jet boats.
In early 2022, he and his family moved to Denver, not knowing at all if boatbuilding could continue 1,000 or so miles inland. After finding a community of wooden boat enthusiasts and a wise mentor in local retired boatbuilder Doug Brown, he opened Denver Custom Boatworks in July, 2022, to serve the many beautiful classic runabouts and lake sailers in the region."
